i bought this in August and we just finished our kitchen. the chimney that came with it was too short so we ordered the extension that was approx $250 plus $25 shipping and were told it would arrive the following Tuesday. Our contractor made it fit in the next hour. so we cancelled the order the same day just an hour later and were told it wouldn't ship as we cancelled in time. on Sunday morning we woke up to it sitting on our front porch and we were charged $158 to ship it back. what a ripoff. I just spent $17,000 on all Kitchenaid appliances and their support line refused to give us a $25 shipping tag to send it back and said we'd have to eat the shipping both ways. when we asked to speak to a supervisor they pretended we had a bad connection on the phone and said they all of a sudden couldn't hear us anymore. we called multiple times and no one would let us speak with a supervisor and were rude on the phone to us.

This canopy hood was included in a new home I bought from Pulte Homes in Georgetown, Texas. The main complaint I have is that the lower front corners are very sharp and create a serious cut hazard. The Hood does not seem to vent well even at the high speed setting. The lights are very bright and light up the range below very well.

Chimney has Ugly Holes!!

We purchase this vent hood as a part of an entire kitchen suite and are very disappointed with the chimney sections provided with the product. The product descriptive information states that the chimney is suitable for rooms with up to a 9' ceiling. What they don't tell you is that they provide the chimney in two sections that must be connected. One of those sections has dozens of holes on each side ostensibly for people that vent the canopy back into the room. But for most of us who vent the hood outside we are left with those ugly holes that are ideally sized to attract and harbor insects with no way to easily remove them. A call to KitchenAid was an unpleasant experience with an individual uninterested in listening and then telling me "sorry you don't like it, we can't help, now please go away". We are not happy with the product or the service.

I selected all KitchenAid appliances for our new Drees home in suburban Austin and glad I did. The way the builder mounted the hood, far up the wall really lessened the likelihood of me bumping my head on and corner of the hood while engrossed in cooking something.....

Please DO NOT BUY a KitchenAid Hood.
I bought this Hood Dec 2017. Model #KVWB406DSS2. It was delivered Jan 2018. The entire light and venting system was replaced October 2018. I just had the light and venting system worked on again today, and the lights had to be replaced. The same two lights were replaced in Oct 2018 and today each light cost $70.00 each. The service call was $125.00. I had to pay $284.00 for a hood system that has failed to work continuously for twelve months. The lighting and venting system has not worked for a complete nine months the entire time I have owned it. I would never buy Kitchenaid again. The appliances are unreliable and not worth the money. Please buy another brand as I have never felt so bad about a purchase. I am not happy with this but it was my choice and I can only warn others. Beware of KitchenAid, I promise you will regret it. I have ended up paying more money for something that I could not even use because the venting system came on spontaneously. Completely awful product.

Hood looks great and works just fine. The lights and fan speeds are solid upgrades. Just be warned that you need to purchase additional items to get this installed correctly. KitchenAide only provides a limited amount of vent cover, and the price of the extender kit was several hundred dollars and not easy to obtain. You also need to purchase the vent tubing and the electrical plug. So thus purchase ended up being about 40% more than just the price of the hood when everything was obtained for installation.

New build home, moved in a week ago with this lovely Kitchen aid vent hood an upgrade of course. I cooked dinner twice and then......Grease? Dripping down the wall. Kitchen aid repair was called, repairman unsure what could cause this? Coming back next week to replace motor and see if that fixes

Purchased this and other KitchenAid products (Spent 13K) it came damaged and metal was bent, the box was in perfect condition. Called KitchenAid to explain the situation which they told me they will send out a tech to see what parts can be replaced. Tech came out and said that it was too damaged and they can't use parts to fix it. Guess what im stuck with a $1,000 bent hood. High Five KitchenAid. NEVER AGAIN...you will get my business. Will be sure to share my story with Friends and Family.

The nice looking hood was installed as an upgrade in a new Toll Brothers home. Within 6-7 weeks of moving in the house the Blower motor broke down and needs to be replaced. Calls to Kitchen Aid help desk has long 30+ min wait times. On a positive note the customer service reps are very polite and helpful. However, Kitchen Aid has only one service provider in the area and their technician insists that the hood has to be uninstalled before they can replace the motor. It is a huge unexpected mess. We regret buying the product and to make matters worse all our other appliances are whirlpool and the cook top has also broken down within the short use period.

Works fine, but buttons need to be updated. You have to push power button and the speed button you want rather than just pushing one button to start it. the buttons feel a little cheap, touch screen like the oven would be much better. Also, quality control is lacking. Had to order 3 before getting one with no damage.

Recently purchased this for installation in new construction and we are very pleased with the product. I am thoroughly impressed with the performance I have seen. The lights are the best I have seen on such hoods and provide a good temperature of light for cooking. Even on its highest setting the fan is quiet enough that you can have a low conversation when standing directly in front of it. From across a quiet room it is hardly noticeable. The buttons are very easy to operate. No cons to report.

We purchased this as part of a complete kitchen remodel. The LED lighting is excellent and completly illuminates the gas cooktop. The fan is really quiet and only noticable (noise wise) on the highest speed. Low speed is nearly silent and medium is barely noticable (decibel level wise). My wife loves it . . . so that means I love it :-)

If your hood is being used in an open concept home beware that the damper bangs when the wind picks up a little, and interferes with listening to the TV or radio. Bang- bang- bang bang- Kitchenaid said it's not installed properly, Lowe's says it is. Because the damper is designed to open when the fan is turned on and it doesn't have a separate electronic or mechanical control (like your fireplace damper), I tend to think it's a design issue. The damper has to be light enough to open when the fan is turned on from below, and heavy enough to stay closed when a breeze blows by from above. OR Kitchenaid could have supplied a material to prevent the two metals- the damper and the duct- from hitting each other. Some sort of a cushion seal. Based on the number of complaints on the web, I suspect Kitchenaid is well aware of the issue. I also think it's not an installation issue because according to the one woman I spoke with there are only two screws used to assemble the damper.
