This dishwasher does not have any protective covering over the heating unit in the dishwasher. If something falls (plastic baby spoon, piece of corn or other food) it melts or just gets lodged under the coil. The burnt smell is overwhelming and it basically destroys any other silicone or plastic item in the dishwasher. long and short, there should be a cage of some sort over the coil.

This machine was 2 3/4 years old when it failed. KitchenAid Customer Service referred me to their warranty service in my area because the problem indicated an electronic failure and electronic parts have a 5 year warranty. The technician claimed that the motor pump had failed. After paying $439 to have the motor pump replaced, the machine is still stopping mid-cycle. KitchenAid offered me a limited choice of replacement models at a modestly discounted price but reviews of those machines indicate they have similar problems. This used to be a good brand. I would not buy it again.

Leaked After 1.5 Years

Leaked massive amounts of water on my new hardwoods after only 1.5 years. No warranty coverage and costly repairs to the appliance. I just by chance noticed the leaking before it damaged the floors too much, but the water had already covered my entire kitchen floor. Buyer beware.

One of the nicest dishwashers I've ever owned. Load it, start it, it cleans dishes silently and spotlessly, then you unload it and start again. Exactly what a dishwasher should be. Looks very nice in the kitchen, has a helpful LED that tells you whether it's running or not (because you can't tell) or whether the dishes inside are clean and need to be unloaded (helpful in places where there's more than one person loading and running the dishwasher). More money than other dishwashers, but definitely worth the money!

Purchased this dishwasher because of the Kitchenaid reputation. I needed a dishwasher that was quiet because I work from home and am 15 feet away from my kitchen. The dishwasher at 43 db is as quiet as a whisper. I had to buy new drain covers because my sink drain was loud...Don't even hear it running when standing in the kitchen now. Lots of features, hidden control panel, straight tines for easy loading, 3 racks and it is so big and roomy. Everything fits and everything is clean and dry. Love, love, love it. Great investment.

I bought this dishwasher a few months ago. (Why did I ever buy other name brands before this)? Quite simply. I love it! It cleans the dishes and everything I put in there. The best part, besides that, of course, is that it is so quiet I don't even know it is running. Cycle options are on top of the door so little fingers can't find them and turn the machine on.

I bought this on clearance since a "new and better" model is coming out but the sale person said it's great and he has kitchen aid in his house. My favorite feature was how quiet I was told it was and the jet stream feature. Once I got it home, hooked up, and had enough dishes to start it I was even more impressed. It's super quiet. The loudest part of the whole dishwasher is it beeps when it's done washing. Probably could be turned off just haven't tried. You can carry on a conversation stand right next to it. It cleans really well. I put a lasagna pan that had some burnt part around the edges and turned out the jet stream. It came out spotless. I absolutely love my dishwasher. Great investment. Would recommend it and the kitchen aid brand to anybody looking. I plan on replacing the rest of my appliances with KitchenAid down the road.

Owned for two months and a good choice. Cleans well, easy to load and very, very quiet. My only negative is the dark color of the interior basket. The dark grey blends too close to the color of knives, forks, etc and a poke or two has happened when unloading.

Very quite and cleans great. The only downside is it isn't great for stemmed glasses and large pans. The upper rack adjusts up and down, so if it is set down, you can't do large items in lower rack.

My family really likes this dishwasher we first replaced our ge dishwasher that we loved with Bosch that came highly recommended after the first run we knew it was a big MISTAKE!!!!! we tried to live with it but it became impossible ater about 4 complaints and neumerous tech support we finally got rid of it and replaced it with our KitchenAid (again first time user of KitchenAid) no recomendations went on the slaes person experience. It's everything the Bosch wasn't we love it!! don t believe the hoop about no heated drying and noise level for the Bosch KitchenAid noise level is great and i love that it has the drying ( no smell like the Bosch) and no standing water like t he Bosch !!!

I've had 5 KA dishwashers in two houses over 48 years. They have all been reliable and good quality. I've been using the Pro Wash cycle and it had done an excellent job. The cycles is longer than older modes, but we usually start the machine in the evening and don't touch it until morning so that is not a problem. My only complaint is the separators that are put on top of the silverware rack. They are poor quality and don't stay in place. The slots are too narrow for our forks and knives but where they can be used, they either push in when loading or pull out when unloading. I expect better on a $1700 appliance

We have used the Whrilpool Gold for 30 some years, but the new water saving type is a joke. We removed a new Gold and installed a top of the line Kitchen Aid and it seems to be doing a good job without having to waist water down the drain pre washing kitchen utensils.

This is a super quiet machine that cleans pretty well. However, it is less than 18 months old and I am on my THIRD control panel. Something defective is going on. I recommend purchasing the extended warranty and be prepared for the inconvenience of multiple repair appointments.

I like the look and the handle- it's very sleek. The dishwasher is so quiet it's hard to tell it's on. Upper rack is easy to adjust even when full and holds a lot more than my last dishwasher. The functions are great but the dishes don't dry so I have to hand dry. I still have to rinse off food but that's OK I know I've saved money on my energy bill. The upper utensil shelf is nice for large serving spoons and barbecue tongs.

My Bosch finally died, or rather the circuit board did, thank goodness. It was not soon enough for me to be rid of it. the Kitchenaid loads more easily and efficiently, plates, dishes and platters fit better in the bottom. More wine glasses and small things fit better in the second drawer, which adjust up and so so easily. I adore the third shelf on the top for utensils. It is quieter than the Bosch and does not make an annoying complete alarm at the end of the cycle. Everything is very clean and sparkling.
